
The Music Heals project was developed as part of the interdepartmental cooperation between the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Center for Medical Rehabilitation and the Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic, which is aimed at improving the quality of life of patients through the introduction of musicotherapy forms of psychosocial rehabilitation.
The project provides for:
• live performances of specially selected repertoire for neurological patients, including those who have suffered from acute cerebrovascular accident;
• using the influence of acoustic waves organized into a musical structure for the purpose of psychosomatic regulation of body functions disrupted as a result of the disease during medical interventions;
• deep integration of music therapy into the rehabilitation process.
This project has no analogues in Belarus. Long-term further cooperation between the clinical center and the Philharmonic Society is planned within the framework of the project.
The first event of the Music Heals project took place on November 14, 2024 in the assembly hall of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Center for Medical Rehabilitation. The first meeting of the project is called "String Therapy". The art of playing stringed instruments was carefully presented by high–class musicians, laureates of international competitions Sergey Timoshenko and Ekaterina Melnikova (dulcimer), Nikita Kurlovich (mandolin), Marina Popkova (piano), as well as the legendary octet of balalaika "Vitebsk Virtuosi". This meeting was conducted by an experienced specialist, director of the Philharmonic Tatiana Savitskaya.
